Abstract

This project continues the work developed in the previous project "Full engineering of a wireless system for the detection of hits to fencing". It consists of full design of the wireless hits marking console for the sport of fencing in the form of sword, based on the results of previous project. Other related projects have been made in parallel. The aim of all is to create a complete wireless hits detection system for this modality that is functional, reliable, robust and portable, with the aim of approaching the system to the market, allowing the elimination of troublesome cables present in this sport. The resulting system, called Wireless Fencing, is composed of a central console for marking of hits, static device, developed in this project, and two dynamic modules, one for each opponent that communicate by radio frequency. Dynamic devices detect the hits and indicate to the static, which signals. The console is the central part of the system and in addition to being able to synchronize with the dynamics and mark the hits wireless, both simple and double, is backward compatible in two ways. On one hand, allows the connection of swords with cables, i.e., the traditional way and using the available infrastructure in the fencing clubs, without the need of dynamic modules. On the other hand, it can synchronize with dynamic devices to perform a wireless combat and, at the same time, connect it with wires to the traditional consoles in clubs. Thus, static device simulates the behavior of swords in case of hits, so traditional consoles detect and can take advantage of, as they tend to be more complete products. The resulting device of this project is considered suitable for the market, in terms of hardware, being considerably smaller than its predecessor, with less power consumption, more robust and reliable and aesthetically modern and functional.
