An investigation the behavioral problems of adelescents, who perceived emotional abuse from parents and teachers

The purposes of this study is to determine the interaction between the behavioral problems of adolsecents attending high school and their emotional exploitation by the parents and teachers. This study has been conducted among 425 students, 247 of them girls and 187 of them boys, who have been attending to four different high schools in Mersin. In the investigation, to define the level of perceived emotional abuse of adolescents from parents ""The Perception of Psychological Maltreatment Inventory for Adolescent - Mother Form and Father Form"" is used while Alantar (1989), to define the level of perceived emotional abuse of adolescents from teacher ""The perceived Teacher Behavior Inventory"" is used while Alantar (1989), to define the level of perceived behavioral problems ""The Conners' Teacher Rating Scale"" is used while Conners (1969). To gather demografical characteristics of the adolescents ""Personal Questionnarie Form"" was applied. One way Anova Analysis, Kruskal Wallis, The Mann-Whitney U Test and Regression Analysis were used for statistical analyses. As a result of that research, male adolescents had been determined to show more behavioral problems than female adolescents. While the level of emotional abuse which female adolescent perceive from their mothers was found higher than male's, male adolescents perceive the emotional abuse from their teachers higher than female's. Aspect of emotional problems perceived from father, it wasn't found any significant differentiation between male and female adolescents. When gender effect is controlled, emotional abuse perceived from teachers and emotional abuse perceived from motherhad been determined to predict behavioral problems in adolescents. Bu araştırmanın amacı, ortaöğretim kurumlarına devam eden ergenlerde görülen davranış problemlerinin anne-baba ve öğretmenden algılanan duygusal istismar ile bir ilişkisi olup olmadığını belirlemektir. Araştırmanın örneklemini, Mersin'in merkez ilçelerinde bulunan toplam dört devlet lisesine devam eden 247'si kız, 187'si erkek olmak üzere 434 lise öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada, ergenlerin anne ve babadan algıladıkları duygusal istismarı ölçmek için Alantar (1989) tarafından geliştirilen ""Anne-Baba Genç İlişkiler Ölçeği"", öğretmenlerinden algıladıkları duygusal istismarı ölçmek için yine Alantar (1989) tarafından geliştirilen ""Algılanan Öğretmen Davranışı Ölçeği"", öğrencilerin sınıf içi davranışlarını belirlemek amacıyla Conners (1969) tarafından geliştirilen ""Conners' Öğretmen Derecelendirme Ölçeği"" ve araştırmaya katılan öğrenciler hakkında bazı genel bilgileri toplamak amacıyla ""Kişisel Bilgi Formu"" kullanılmıştır. İstatistiksel çözümlemelerde Tek Yönlü Varyans Analizi (ANOVA), Kruskal-Wallis Testi, Mann Whitney U testi ve Regresyon Analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda erkek ergenlerin kız ergenlere göre davranış problemlerini daha fazla sergiledikleri belirlenmiştir. Kız ergenlerin annelerinden algıladıkları duygusal istismar düzeyi, erkek ergenlerden daha yüksek bulunurken, erkek ergenler duygusal istismarı öğretmenlerinden kız ergenlere göre daha yüksek düzeyde algılamaktadırlar. Kız ve erkek ergenler arasında babadan algılanan duygusal istismar açısından anlamlı farklılaşma olmadığı saptanmıştır. Cinsiyet etkisi kontrol edildiğinde, öğretmenden algılanan duygusal istismarın ve anneden algılanan duygusal istismarın ergenlerde davranış problemlerini anlamlı düzeyde yordadığı belirlenmiştir.
