Organic pollutants in agricultural soils from suburbs ofTianjin were investigated. These included hydrocarbons (alkanes, fatty acids, steranes and triterpanes), phthalate esters, po1ycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and chlorinated pesticides. The pollutant composition directly points to strong contamination from fossil fuels derivatives.
