Abstract
It attempts to elucidate what remains and the changes in those transformations or contemporary family arrangements. For this purpose, an initial journey through the father and his fall and also the Oedipus complex in culture, myths, and some religions is made, and then analyze fundamental aspects about psychoanalytic theory related to the structuring of subjectivity and principally linked to Oedipus complex proposed by Sigmund Freud and respective elaborations from Jacques Lacan. From the latter author, the theory about the significant Name-of-the-father and the Paternal Substitute Metaphor of Maternal Desire is resumed; it also includes elements about the formulas of sexuation inclined to place masculine and feminine aspects that are involved. Elaborations made by Freud and Lacan about family, complex and relationships with the Other are situate.
