Véronique Hubert : 'Chapitre 7, Le départ': supplément cd-rom

International audience; The cd rom, is the last chapter that closes the story of the Femme Aux Grosses Mains (FAGM). Its conception ( 2000) and manufacture precedes by almost 2 years the edition of her artist's book which includes the cd-rom.The images and texts scrolling on the screen have a specific quality. The reader will find himself voluntarily subjected to a sustained and hypnotic rhythm that will end up escaping his reading abilities. The images transformed into a video stream have been deliberately left with a low resolution video quality.This project voluntarily mixes with the Director Macromedia software still images and low definition texts related to the associated artist's book (finalized after the realization of the cd-rom). The theme of the book will be continued on the digital medium. It deals with the question of memory disorders, phenomena of persistence of hypersensitivity at the physiological level. It is a fiction of an inter-medical nature which is proposed to us since it is a question of multiple schizophrenic sensations of the body and where the main character following his hospitalization must "feel" his immediate environment with his hands. The graphic design adopted for the book as well as the cd-rom refers to the do-it-yourself and the awkwardness of a body that is newly experiencing the world and searching for itself. It's as if things of the world start to stick inexplicably to our bodies: we could explore the world but are already stuck in it... The animated text sequences are also presented on paper. The Gadget and Chalkboard typographies are in the style of the Serial-Free Comics (a font designed in 1995 and quickly known for its amateur side and a bit too Cartoon...). Two of the three animations designed for the work were then ported to the After effect software to be processed (post production) in compositing and then reprocessed in video format, with a compression codec allowing a reading on a cd-rom support. The scrolling of the texts from directions, sometimes opposite, forces the eye and can cause nausea. The kinetic effects of the texts and images are almost hypnotic.; Le cd rom, est le dernier chapitre qui referme l’histoire de la Femme Aux Grosses Mains (FAGM). Sa conception( 2000) et sa fabrication précède de presque 2 ans l’édition de son livre d’artiste qui inclue le cd-rom.Les images et les textes défilant à l’écran ont une qualité spécifique. Le lecteur se trouvera volontairement soumis à un rythme soutenu et hypnotique finissant par échapper à ses capacités de lecture. Les images transformées en flux vidéo ont été volontairement laissées avec une qualité vidéo basse résolution.Ce projet mixe volontairement avec le logiciel Director Macromédia des images fixes et des textes de basse définition en lien avec le livre d’artiste associé (finalisé après la réalisation du cd-rom). La thématique du livre se prolonge sur le support numérique. Elle aborde la question des troubles mémoriels, de phénomènes de persistance d’une hypersensibilité au niveau physiologique. C’est une fiction de nature inter-médiumnique qui nous est proposé puisqu’il est question de multiples sensations schyzophréniques du corps et où le personnage principal suite à son hospitalisation doit “sentir” son environnement immédiat avec les mains. Le graphisme adopté pour le livre comme le cd-rom renvoie au bricolage et aux maladresses d’un corps qui éprouve nouvellement le monde et se cherche. C’est comme si les choses du monde se mettaient à coller inexplicablement à nos corps : nous pourrions explorer le monde mais tout en étant déjà englué dedans… Les séquences de textes animés sont également présentées sur le support papier. Les typographies Gadget et Chalkboard reprennent le style de la Comics sans sérif (une police conçue en 1995 très vite réputée pour son côté amateur et un peu trop Cartoon…). Deux des trois animations conçues pour l’œuvre ont été porté ensuite sous le logiciel After effect pour être traitées (post production) en compositing puis retraitées au format vidéo, avec un codec de compression permettant une lecture sur support de cd-rom.Le défilement des textes de directions, parfois opposées, force le regard et peut occasionner la nausée. Les effets cinétiques des textes et des images sont quasi hypnotiques.
