Looking for cultural pleasure. Highschoolers making their opinions on films and music prior to experiencing them

This dissertation attempts to study how the French high school students of the 2010s make their minds about movies and musics they haven’t seen or heard yet. To understand this, the researcher has to analyse the incorporated past of eatch teenager and the situations in which they discover the cultural goods. With distincts cultural dispositions and relations to culture, the high school students read into clues given by these presentations to search for satisfactory cultural experiences. The methods of investigation articulates a macro-sociological aspect and several micro-sociological aspects.; Ce travail s’attache à étudier sociologiquement comment les lycéens français des années 2010 construisent des avis a priori sur des films et des musiques qu’ils n’ont encore pas vus ou entendues. La thèse défendue est qu’on ne peut comprendre la manière dont les lycéens catégorisent et jugent a priori les biens culturels qu’en analysant, d’un côté, le passé incorporé des individus et, de l’autre, la réception de présentations singulières à travers lesquelles ils découvrent ces biens culturels. Avec des rapports à la culture socialement distincts, les lycéens interprètent les indices donnés par ces présentations pour s’orienter dans la recherche d’expériences culturelles satisfaisantes. La méthode employée articule l’utilisation de questionnaires pour obtenir des données de cadrage, à de multiples protocoles qualitatifs, qui vont des entretiens collectifs aux études de cas.
