Abstract
- Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES Tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) is one of the most cultivated freshwater fish species in Brazil. Some of the advantages for your cultivation are the adaptability to low oxygen concentrations and different crop systems. Phytogenic additives are products derived from plants that are added to the diets of farm animals, in order to improve their productive performance. One of these additives is Rosemary essential oil, a natural and safe compound for animals, human and environment, with the potential to be used as a growth promoter, improving feed efficiency. The present work objective to evaluate the effects of the essential oil of Rosemary on the zootechnical performance of tambaqui. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design with five treatments and four replications, where 140 juvenile tambaqui were used, randomly distributed in 20 rectangular plastic boxes with a capacity of 60L, connected to a water recirculation system, with the density of seven fish per box. Feeding was carried out twice a day until apparent satiety, using diets with levels of 0; 0.5; 1.0; 1.5 and 2.0% of rosemary essential oil inclusion. After the 45-day trial period, the final biometry was performed for data collection. There was a significant difference between treatments (P
