The historiography of the court in France presents a very contrasted picture. It is generally considered that this subject has not always been well received by French historians, and that the court constituted a suspicious object, or even an infrequent one. The article presents the milestones of a scientific production less poor than it seems and underlines the peculiarities that took the research on the court in France.

On considère généralement que ce sujet n'a pas toujours été bien perçu par les historiens français, et que la cour constituait un objet suspect, voire peu fréquentable. L'article présente les jalons d'une production scientifique moins pauvre qu'il n'y paraît, tout en éclairant les particularités que prit la recherche sur la cour en France.
