The platforms of scientific journals and the bibliographic databases are essential tools for each researcher. They document the development of scientific research, and – in the context of the formal parametric and evaluation requirements – guarantee the inclusion of individual publications in the scientific communication system. Although the two types of tools have similar tasks, they also have some differences (in the field of creating, functionality, co-operation with digital repositories, accessibility for the potential users). Author tried to indicate the fields and tendencies of both sources mutual permeability, as well as the differences between them.
