A LINGUISTIC ANALYSIS OF THE LOCAL IDIOM OF SMILJAN

The paper analysis the local idiom of Gospić and the surrounding area, particularly the village of Smiljan, and the historical and cultural picture of the selected geographic area. The idiom belongs to the Neo-Shtokavian Ikavian dialect. The linguistic and cultural content investigated help build a personal, local and regional identity and contribute to mastery of the standard language.
