Abstract
- Instantaneous frequency (IF) is a key parameters which provides crucial information about time-varying spectral changes in a non-stationary signal. The IF estimation error exhibits variance and bias dependant on the TFR analysis window width such that the bias increases and variance decreases as the window length increases. The improved ICI rule was applied to the IF estimation of monocomponent noisy nonstationary signals providing acceptable estimation bias to variance tradeoff and enhancing the IF estimation accuracy.
