Abstract
- The behaviour prediction of frame structures with masonry infill exhibited under lateral loading is still relatively complex. Although such composite constructions are frequently applied in buildings, there are no practice oriented models for their design, as it is the case with most other types of building systems. The use of existing approaches can lead to inadequate or overestimated load capacities, as different models are more or less suitable for certain applications and can give diverse results for the same system. This paper presents some of the modelling approaches used in strength prediction of steel frames with masonry infill. Based on experimental results of constitutive parts properties (steel material, masonry elements, mortar), is shown implementation of an equivalent diagonal model prediction using nonlinear and linear strength envelopes. Results gained by this investigation will serve for an experimental investigation on a steel one story – one bay frame with different types of masonry infill.
