Abstract
- Croatia, as a moderately new member of EU, may soon discover a potential for future economic development. Participation of country enterprises in European supply chains is an important opportunity for economic growth of a region. Analysis of the logistics performance of the country, based on the World Bank data, suggest a positive change in recent years. That proves a beneficial evolution of a business environment in Croatia. Improving infrastructure and other subfactors included in the analysis, support business activities and increase readiness of the country for potential upturn of logistic services. Using logistical advantages of Croatia as location or improved infrastructure may be a stimulus for creating business relationships among business partners in EU. A country that applies the adaptable concept of logistics platform has the ability to use new possibilities on the EU market, especially thanks to growth of a sector of e-commerce. Free flow of information on the Internet and unrestricted access to customer in one single market, guaranteed by EU law, opens new possibilities for trade development and create another competitive area. Recently the European Parliament set the regulation forbidding geo-blocking and create potential for e-commerce growth in Europe. Croatia may benefit from its location and rise in logistic performance. In this relatively new sector the ability to use all logistic advantages become an asset. Employing advanced analytical techniques of simulation and visualization for logistic applications becomes now a prerequisite for growing e-commerce on the EU market. Questions raising form such perspective concerns abilities of a Croatian business to exploit described potential. In which way managers of business units should adjust their strategy? How strongly business intelligence correlates with supply chain management? The purpose of this paper is to formulate a protocol for creating a logistic strategy for Croatian enterprises. Preliminary research for this article included logistics performance index (LPI) analysis, literature, and data mining. Variables examined in the primary research of Croatian companies practice were categorized as business intelligence, supply chain management, information visibility and integration of logistic function. Factor analysis was used to connect these variables, i.e. to reduce number of variables. Authors have tested the correlation between variables. There was a significant statistical correlation between business intelligence, supply chain management, information visibility and integration as a prerequisite for concurrent logistic strategy of the company.
