Abstract
- The paper presents several applications of geosynthetics, geocomposites and industrial by-products in different areas of geo-engineering. Geosynthetics and geocomposites have been used for more than 30 years, and lately more and more. Application of industrial by-products and other alternative materials, such as liners, filters or some other parts of environmental geo-constructions, has several advantages, among which the most important is a considerable money-saving. Examples of these materials are: paper industry waste pulp, compost, some types of ash, components of flysh formations, materials gained by excavations, mineral/polymer mixtures, and waste stone dust.
