Abstract

Reactions of π-allylpalladium compounds with the 1,3-dipolar species, benzonitrilioanilide and benzonitrile N-oxide, give low yields of five- membered ring heterocyclic compounds. It is proposed that the π- allylpalladium compounds decompose to give allylic halides which then react with the dipolar species to give heterocyclic products.
