Abstract

Excess molar volumes VEm are reported for (dibutyl ether + trichloromethane or tetrachloromethane or 1,2-dichloroethane or 1,1,2-trichloroethane or 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane or pentachloroethane) at the temperature 303.15 K over the entire composition range by direct dilatometry. The curves of VEm against mole fraction x are negative at all x for all the mixtures except for that with 1,2-dichloroethane in which case VEm is positive. The excess volumes decrease in the sequences: 1,2-dichloroethane > tetrachloromethane > 1,1,2-trichloroethane > trichloromethane > 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane > pentachloroethane.
