Abstract
- Reaction of the sterically demanding ligand precursor [(CHBu<SUP>t</SUP>)<INF>2</INF>(C<INF>5</INF>H<INF>2</INF>Bu<SUP>t</SUP><INF>2</INF>)<INF>2</INF>]K<INF>2</INF> with SnCl<INF>2</INF> in THF gave the air-stable ansa-stannocene complex rac[(CHBu<SUP>t</SUP>)<INF>2</INF>(C<INF>5</INF>H<INF>2</INF>Bu<SUP>t</SUP><INF>2</INF>)<INF>2</INF>]Sn. A single-crystal X-ray structure of the ansa-stannocene revealed a C<INF>2</INF>-symmetric and slipped bent structure, with the Sn<SUP>2+</SUP> displaced toward an η<SUP>2</SUP> bonding mode between bridged, highly tilted, and staggered 2,4-di-tert-butylcyclopentadienyl rings.
