Abstract

•Released DPA increased with increased treatment time for each process temperature.•Positive correlation between DPA release and log reduction was observed.•Correlation (QC-B, 610-F, and Giorgio-A) after pressure-assisted thermal treatment.•No correlation was found for PA3679 after pressure-assisted thermal treatment.•DPA is found in unprocessed prepared spore crop suspensions in prolonged cold storage.
