Bioassay-guided fractionation and in vitroand in silicobiological activities of 2,4-di-tert-butylphenol isolated from Nocardiopsissp. strain LC-8

•Ethyl acetate extract of Nocardiopsissp. strain LC-8 exhibited potential antimicrobial trait.•Fraction 2 (F2) of strain LC-8 revealed antioxidant traits with low IC50values.•F2 exhibited anticancer activity against MCF-7 cells with IC50value of 17.5±1.5 μg/ml.•2,4-di-tert-butylphenol displayed good docking score against target proteins of pathogens and cancer cells.•2,4-di-tert-butylphenol from Nocardiopsissp. may be used as a promising therapeutic agent.
