Abstract

•Patients without retroperitoneal disease at pRPLND have excellent long-term outcomes.•Recurrences occur early in the lungs, likely due to pre-existing distant disease.•Reduced surveillance is possible for patients without disease at pRPLND.•More sensitive diagnostics are needed to reduce rates of negative pRPLND.
