Abstract

Here, we report wajeepeptin (1), a new cyclic depsipeptide isolated from a marine Moorenasp. cyanobacterium. The structure was elucidated by a combination of spectroscopic analyses, X-ray diffraction analysis, and degradation reactions. Wajeepeptin (1) showed moderate cytotoxicity (IC50= 3.7 μM against HeLa cells) and potent antitrypanosomal activity (IC50= 0.73 ± 0.14 μM against Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense).
