Abstract
- The three-phase current source rectifier (3ph-CSR) with high input voltage and high switching frequency faces two major issues: one is the high power loss dissipated in bridge legs, and the other is the influence of common mode (CM) current on the input current quality. A family of 3ph-CSR topologies with reduced voltage stress on switching devices and CM current mitigation is introduced in this article. The switching devices in conventional 3ph-CSR always withstand the input line-to-line voltage, while the voltage stress on switching devices in the proposed 3ph-CSR is lower than the amplitude of the input phase voltage. Moreover, the proposed 3ph-CSR enables the CM currents to circulate inside the rectifiers, without flowing to the input side, so the input current quality can be improved effectively. A 1.5 kW experimental prototype of the proposed six-switch 3ph-CSR is built to verify the analysis results.
