Abstract
- This letter proposes a novel interleaved shared-aperture dual-band dual-polarized base station antenna. It consists of a low-band (LB) element and two high-band (HB) subarrays. The HB antenna is loaded with a parasitic patch, which introduces a new resonance point to broaden its bandwidth. To eliminate the distortion of induced currents on the radiation pattern, a novel inhomogeneous metasurface is applied to the LB dipoles. The proposed antenna array is designed, fabricated, and tested for verification. By loading the inhomogeneous metasurface, the radiation patterns of the HB subarray are restored. Besides, the proposed antenna array can cover bands ranging from 0.57–0.97 GHz and 1.51–2.95 GHz. The measured results show that wide bandwidth, high gain, good isolation, and great cross-polar discrimination are realized for both bands.
