Abstract
- This paper is a new view to earlier research about the impact of state ownership on the internationalization of EMNEs. Although there are publications on Chinese MNEs about state ownership’s effects on their international expansion, there are still many opportunities to study EMNEs from other developing countries, especially to link the advantages to disadvantages of state ownership (How does state ownership involvement affect EMNEs internationalization?). We found ambiguity in whether state ownership benefits or harms EMNEs’ internationalization. The new discussion would be more informative if we found the scope conditions and factors involved in generating a positive or negative result. Adopting and adapting the institutional theory (coercive part) creates a clearer insight into SOEMNE internationalization, and finally, for this, proposes new statements as the result of the paper could be tested in the future.
