Abstract

Weak magnetic flux leakage detection is a recently emerged and widely used stress detection technique for ferromagnetic materials. It has been used to analyze the stress in relation to the ferromagnetic material because of the change in the measurement signal near the inspected device caused by the stress. Weak magnetic flux leakage detection of ferromagnetic materials under normal stress [stress perpendicular to the stress concentration zone (SCZ)] is studied for the contact problem. The weak magnetic flux leakage detection signal of compressive stress under inclined conditions has not been available for quantitative analysis. In this article, a quantitative model of magnetic charge based on the linearity of the magnetic-stress angle is developed to determine the effect of the magnetic-stress angle on the magnetic signal. Some basic phenomena in the experiments can be verified by the theory of the quantitative model of linear magnetic charge based on the magnetic-stress angle proposed in this article. In particular, the magnetic-stress angle under inclined conditions provides quantitative results on the effect of stress signal angle on the magnetic signal.
