Abstract

•Ability of self-assessment in surgical learning varies according to analyzed gestures.•In microsurgery learning, self-assessment accuracy is better for specific items such as clamp setting and water tightness, than for unspecific items such as vessel manipulation and suturing.•Most of the students underestimated themselves in surgical learning with a higher proportion of women.
