Abstract

•Absence of Cytauxzoonsp. in wild felids in a locality with the absence of the possible vector Amblyomma sculptum;.•High occurrence of Cytauxzoonspp. in wild felids infested by Amblyomma sculptum;.•Consolidation of the hypothesis that the jaguar is a natural reservoir of Cytauxzoonspp., related to the detection of parasitism for long periods and the absence of clinical and physiological changes.
