Abstract

•Capacity estimation for urban midblock with weak lane-disciplined mixed traffic.•Suitable Deterministic and stochastic capacity estimation methods are identified.•Calibration of traffic stream models, Product limit method, & Sustained Flow Index.•Set of modified guidelines and procedure for probabilistic capacity estimation.•An augmented method of determining Level of Service based on Survival Probability.•Freedom to provide a desirable/ tolerable LOS respective to the demand and supply.•This can supplement traffic authorities in regulating the congestion in urban areas.
