•We developed a novel method for pathogen detection in foods.•It combined QBs-labelled LFIAS and SD-LAMP to achieve quantitative detection.•The combined test rapidly and sensitively detected SalmonellaThyphimurium.•Current approach does not require almost any equipment allowing point-of-care use.•The efficacy of the current test was confirmed in different food samples.
