Abstract
- Self-quenching streamer transitions induced by ?- and ?-rays have been compared with that induced by X-rays in a gas counter filled with an argon-isobutane mixture. Conditions of the transition for obliquely incident ?- and ?-rays have been measured and found to correlate with the inverse of linear density of primary electrons along the alode wire. Effects of ionization tracks on the self-quenching streamer transition are discussed.
