Abstract

Nanoparticulate ZnO Dye Sensitised Solar Cells fabricated at 150degCshowed similar performance to cells fabricated at 450degC. EIS was usedto show that the cells showed a reduction in surface defects and anincrease in crystallinity as the temperature was increased and theamount of sintering was greater. This trend was backed up by datafrom dye desorption, IPCE and transient measurements. While this hadan impact on the Voc and a more pronounced effect on the Jsc theoverall conversion efficiency was only marginally affected. A lowersintering temperature would lead to a significant cost and energysaving if the cells were to be manufactured on a large scale and is apositive step towards the industrialisation of dye-sensitized solar cells.
