TAXONOMIC AND NOMENCLATURAL NOTES ON ATRIPLEXL. (CHENOPODIACEAE)

In preparing an account of the 22 species of AtriplexL. (Chenopodiaceae) that are native or introduced to Canada (Bassett et al., in press), it proved necessary to investigate in detail the application and typification of several names (including Atriplexitself). An account of the status of A. suckleyi(Torrey) Rydb. has already been published (McNeill et al., 1979), and a proposal to reject the name A. hastataL. is in preparation. This paper describes the results of the other nomenclatural investigations and where necessary reports taxonomic conclusions that bear on the nomenclature being adopted.
