Abstract
- Unlike many gastrointestinal pathogens, enteropathogenic Escherichia coliorchestrates the modulation of host cellular and immune responses from the exterior of the infected cell, chiefly via the secreted and translocated components of a type III secretion system. Close inspection of these enteropathogenic Escherichia coliproteins and the interactions they mediate provides an increasingly coherent picture of the pathogenic mechanisms that enteropathogenic Escherichia coliuses to exploit its host.
