Abstract
- Fluorine Age: C−F bond cleavage of difluoro(phenylsulfanyl)methane (PhSCF2H) was achieved by the synergistic effect of Bi(OTf)3in 1,1,1,3,3,3‐hexafluoro‐2‐propanol (HFIP), leading to an electrophilic aromatic formylation reaction of indole derivatives and activated aromatics. The active formylating species (thionium ion intermediates) were experimentally and computationally characterized by 1H and 13C NMR data, and DFT calculations, respectively. The cover features Hanuman, one of the main characters from the Ramakien—Thailand's national epic, as Bi(OTf)3. More information can be found in the Full Paper by Chutima Kuhakarn et al. on page 1642 in Issue 8, 2018(DOI: 10.1002/ajoc.201800313).
