Abstract

Recent clinical studies have documented the importance of measuring the isoenzymes of amylase in serum. The electrophoretic methods available for estimating these isoenzymes differ in speed, sensitivity, resolution, cost and ease of use. Moreover, these methods exhibit clinically important advantages and disadvantages when compared with methods that use amylase inhibitors or monoclonal antibodies.
