Abstract

Sustained ventricular arrhythmias commonly occur in post-myocardial infarction patients. Electrophysiology studies have greatly contributed to understanding the mechanisms of these arrhythmias and in guiding therapy. In addition to pharmacologic therapy, new treatment modalities-which include arrhythmia surgery, device therapy, and percutaneous catheter ablation-have resulted in a significantly improved outcome in patients with malignant ventricular arrhythmias
