Abstract
- The main recent discoveries about vertebrates in North Africa, Sahara, and Israel Trias are reviewed. It is shown that the Middle Trias fauna in the South of Tunisia and that of Israel show true affinities, and that they are both of a marine origin. Conversely, vertebrate faunas in Morocco Trias are continental ones and contain a number of fossils which are found also in Central Sahara Trias (Edjelé).Sahara and South Morocco must have been, for the most part, emerged lands during the Triassic time and had probably some estuaries where marine incursions could penetrate, or were occasionally covered by shallow and temporary seas.
