Abstract

The relative quantum efficiencies of allylphosphonate ( 7–12) formation, from the triplet-sensitized photorearrangement of allyl phosphites ( 1–6), can be qualitatively correlated using the 1,2-biradical model for π−π ∗excited states and considering the effect on excited state energies and lifetimes of placing the β bond in a small ring.
