Abstract
- A field exercise in mapping the bottom of a lake introduces principles of contouring through cooperative and process learning. The exercise is ideally suited for a group of six to eight students from high school onward who have not had structural geology. It teaches familiarity with the pocket transit, construction of a map through baseline triangulation, and assessment of data quality.
