Abstract
- The subtleties of Newman's understanding of the ontological level of conscience (as distinct from the level of prudential judgement) are the subject of this reflection. The full human/divine setting for conscience, both personal and communal that Newman thereby highlights leads inexorably to an ever contemporary spirituality, i.e. one that is demanded by, because rooted in, reality.
