Application of Genetic Algorithms in Simultaneous Curve Fitting Procedures in Pharmacokinetic Studies

Parameter estimation for complex nonlinear compartmental pharmacokinetic models by curve fitting procedures represents a problem which may become even unsolvable, especially due to the nature of the available biologic data and in the cases where simultaneous fitting is needed. The work deals with the application of genetic algorithm as the optimiser in the process of simultaneous curve fitting with adaptive model for the concrete study of histamine pharmacokinetics. It came out that the use of genetic algorithms instead of classical optimisation methods may introduce some advantages in comparison to the former aproach.
