Abstract
- A one pot reaction of MnCl<INF>2</INF>, acetylene dicarboxylate (C<INF>4</INF>O<INF>4</INF>2-), and 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane (bpe) leads to a compound formulated as [{Mn(bpe)(H<INF>2</INF>O)<INF>4</INF>}(C<INF>4</INF>O<INF>4</INF>)·4.5H<INF>2</INF>O] and has been shown by single crystal structure analysis to be a three-dimensional network with hexagonal and rhombohedral channels encapsulating C<INF>4</INF>O<INF>4</INF>2- and water molecules, constructed by the one-dimensional sinusoidal [Mn(bpe)(H<INF>2</INF>O)<INF>4</INF>]<INF>n</INF><INF></INF>2+ cationic chains through extensive hydrogen-bonding and π−π interactions.
