Differences in Maximum Extent of Lateral Eye Movement and Relationship to Field Dependency and WAIS Subtests

Subjects were asked to move their eyes as far as possible to the left and to the right (n= 40). The right movement was significantly greater in extent. The extent of lateral eye movement correlated positively with scores on the rod-and-frame test and negatively with those on the WAIS Block Design and Similarities. Maximum extent of lateral eye movement may be a simple and useful index of cognitive style.
