Abstract
- Computer Simulation is a well-established technique for modelling complex problems. Australian mining has, until quite recently, relied on more ad hocmethods for planning and operating. This case study describes how a large ore mine was successfully studied using animated computer simulation and points out how this approach can overcome traditional resistance to formal models and how useful results were readily obtained and accepted by management.
