Abstract

The few spirochetes that are pathogenic to man, including the Treponema, Borrelia, and Leptospira, vary greatly in the diseases they produce, their biologic characteristics, modes of transmission, and clinical manifestations. Congenital syphilis, leptospirosis, and the relapsing fevers are discussed in detail.
