Abstract
- Treatment of dimethyl sulfite (I) with paraformaldehyde (II) and gaseous dimethylamine (III) yields trimethylammoniomethanesulfonate (IV) whereas condensation reaction of (I) with (II) and (III) in aqueous solution gives dimethylammoniomethanesulfonate (V).
