Abstract

The accuracy of the Pregnosticon Dri-Dot test was evaluated in 579 women who were amenorrheic from 31 to 42 days and who underwent suction curettage. The aspirated uterine contents were examined to document pregnancy. Ninety-five per cent of the patients with a positive pregnancy test were documented to be pregnant. Even at 42 days of amenorrhea, 14 per cent of those patients with a negative pregnancy test were documented to be pregnant. It was not until 45 days of amenorrhea that the estimated false negative rate of the test declined to below 5 per cent.
