Does Downward Seepage Initiate Lateral Channel Shift?

The bed shear stress increased from its critical value when downward seepage was applied to the threshold channel, which resulted in initiation of sediment transport. Experiments have revealed shifting of the channels in lateral directions due to the erosion and deposition of bed material.
