Abstract
- •Adsorbents prepared from goethite tailings showed great efficiency of As(V) adsorption.•Maximum adsorption capacity of As(V) was greatly improved to 5.67mg/g at 25°C.•Both PO43−and HCO3−had a negative effect on As(V) adsorption.•Ca2+and Mg2+ions have shown promoting effects on the As(V) adsorption.•Goethite tailings as waste category present great potential as arsenic adsorbents
