Abstract

The modulus of elasticity of concrete is a fundamental parameter in analysis and design of reinforcedconcrete structures. The present ACI approach for Young's modulus is based on normal strength concrete. It may not be appropriate for highstrength concrete. Experimental studies were conducted on the static Young's modulus of normalstrength concrete and highstrength concrete. An empirical equation for Young's modulus of normalweight concrete determined by computer regression analysis, using the least square method, is described in this paper.
